im just seeing in my logs that im losing 1500 visitors dayly to my website on 404's
Does anyone know a good script that will foreward people that try to visit a non existing page to my mainpage?

put this in your .htaccess file:

ErrorDocument 404 /

Be sure that the 404 aren't hits to favicon, firefox can really mess up 404 stats.

i downloaded my htacces from the host, but what do i need to open it to rewrite it? i figured notepad would, but it dont.

What ftp client that you are using? you can try to edit it via flashfxp.

If you dont have FlashFXP, you can download it from flashfxp.com.
