I am programming in C# right now, I like it, however, it doesn't have nearly as many libraries behind it as java. It is kind of like would you go for a language that is 3 years old with a few libraries under its belt, or a language that is 10 years old with a lot of libraries under its belt.AIM: PerlScriptorComment

you must be joking, tell me a function for which you are looking for a .net library that java has and C# does notI am programming in C# right now, I like it, however, it doesn't have nearly as many libraries behind it as java. I like php personally, but if I had to pick I would go with java since I worked with it longer then I did with C#. But both are fine

Not a big fan of either, but have a lot more experience with Java so would go with that.Comment

Oh pulease...php is a scripting language...for every time a script runs
a compiler is started, php code is compiled, script executed and exits
again.......doesn't seem like that's faster when compared to binary compiled
code.....unless it's coded poorly

man i spent 10 years with java. It's good stuff for big, enterprise systems (which many sites are), but it's development cycle is longer. The same applies to c# but to a lesser degree IMHO (I'm biased obviously)
These days I'd go with PHP since so many outsourced developers use it and it's the programming language of choice for open-source cms systems. Makes moving projects from developer to developer easier. Plus these developers are easier to find and are cheaper than their java/c# counterparts.
But between the java and c#, I'd go with java. If recall, java runs on everything (windoze, linux, mac, etc) and c# doesn't, right? It's been a while since I got my hands dirty with either platforms.[email protected]

Neither when there are better alternatives to C# or Java out there. To me compiling every little change sucks ass. I currently use python for stuff and it works great, is super fast and kills PHP. It takes a bit more work to get setup on webservers and such, but for speed it's not as fast as Java but its a lot faster than PHP and Perl.Latest MMA news. http://www.mmawrapup.comComment
