Although Win will tell you to do a the full because it's a more thourough format versus Quick. The premise is that Quick leaves remenants on HD and may not have a completely clean disk for install.
However neither's 100% so it's theory.

Quick format just lays down a fresh boot record, track 0 info, and whatever the NTFS version of the FAT is called. It doesn't do the whole sector by sector formatting that the other version does.Cary | AIM: cheesefrog | ICQ: 4287002Comment

Even if you do a complete format, the data is still there. With a complete format the sectors are "refreshed" with new sector preamble and closing block, but the data portion is untouched, AFAIK in NTFS. You really want to use a disk "wipe" utility like Norton if you wanna flood unused space with white noise data.Originally posted by mkxGood to know, I know that when you format, things can still be restored, just trying to get a fresh clean throughCary | AIM: cheesefrog | ICQ: 4287002Comment
