How to start own affiliate program?
I'm thinking a lot about starting my own affiliate program.
For now, I'm planning it, and I'm making a biz plan. 1) What software do you recommend? 2) Which payment processors? 3) How much will it cost to start? Does anyone have experience? All advice is welcome! Thank you |

I'm assuming that when you say you want to create an affiliate program, you want to provide a program for affiliates to use (rather than become an affiliate to uses such a program.) My understanding is that if you want to create an affiliate program, you need to budget for hosting services, the software platforms you'll be using, custom development from a qualified programmer, traffic, and accounting/business/legal related services. I don't have any ballpark figures, but this can get costly depending upon what you're looking to do. It's a business after all, so it takes money to make money. Some of my clients prefer a custom AMS (affiliate management system,) because the out-of-the-box offerings are limited in what they can do, or they are opinionated on how they should be used. I have developed these for my clients, and they've been very happy with the outcome. That being said, custom development is costly, and there are cheaper options out there. A lot of my clients use software like NATS, and they are pretty happy with what it offers. You'll need to put together content feeds so that affiliates can create galleries and submit to tubes. The payment processors that I've personally worked with are RocketGate, PrimeOrange, Epoch, and CCBill. All of them are straight forward and provide reliable service. Some of them require getting your own merchant account, so consider that as part of the accounting and business expenses. For payouts, my clients have used PayPal, ACH, Wire Transfer, and Paxum. All of these, excluding ACH, require a fee, so you'll need to take that into consideration too. You'll also want to get a lawyer to CYA. I know AdultBizLaw and MyAdultAttorney are well liked. Hopefully this is the kind of information you were looking for. If you're looking to become an affiliate, I think it's much simpler. You will need to partner with a variety of webmasters. I think there are tube site submitters, and you'll probably want to write your own software to create galleries with your own unique design. |
