You must have Bell's FibreOp 1GB/s plan.. it's what we have here too. The highest I've tested with was 943Mb/s down and similar as you on the upload.
That said, it's easy to get high(er) speed tests going to your local hop. But once you go outside that hop, say to LA or to Miami, (longer ping, more hops), there will be much more variance. Effectively, we're all limited to the speed of the slowest bottleneck in the route.
Where I find the greatest benefit is the upload. 100Mb/s beats 15 or 20Mb/s by a long shot.... and definitely improves my daily productivity. That's worth the extra couple of bucks by itself.NSFWComment
