Version 7.039 changes

Since version 7.039 you don’t need to alter any setting or do other preparations to import a JSON feed of any format. Just add the link and the plugin will do the rest of the job – it will recognize the internal structure (any), will parse it and format it for you automatically.

Also there is a new feature in this version. Now you can import ZIP-archived feeds (XML, JSON) and CSV files. The plugin will unpack them on the fly.

P.S. You won’t need to update anything manually. The plugin updates itself automatically within 24 hours.

As about importing of some unusual or non-standard feeds. Course I will post a preset for them, but not today or tomorrow since I have lots of other interesting thing to do.

But(!)... you guys can easily do it by yourself if you simple read the documentation. Especially this:

CyberSEO: XML Section Names

this:

CyberSEO: Custom Fields

and this:

CyberSEO: Templates

There is not many words to read, really. But when you read it, you will be able to import any XML feed and format your post and custom fields just as you want. No PHP coding skills needed. Even a kid can learn it.

Presets are not a kind of some magic. These are just settings on the feed properties page. You can do it even better than me, especially if you know which exactly result do you expect to get at your WP post or page.

Please make sure to update your copy of CyberSEO to the latest version 7.046. It fixes a serious issue with Atom feeds. You may update your copy of plugin manually via "CyberSEO->General Settings" menu, or the plugin will update itself automatically within 24 hours. The standard preset files will be automatically updated too.

CyberSEO version 7.048 and higher allows you to write fixed arbitrary string values into the post custom fields. To do so, you have to specify the sting value enclosed within double quotes and use it instead of the XML tag name. For example, this how to write “This is my product” value into the “product” custom field:

"This is my product"->product

Other changes:

- Images with https URLs are now suppoted as gallery sources.
- what's new in 7.047
- The <updated> tag for Atom feeds now parsed as a post date.

Fixed bug in cseo_file_get_contents() when called with a proxy list.

Now the plugin is able to store video files locally just like the picture ones. When “Store images locally” is enabled, all videos from the syndicating feeds will be copied into the default uploads folder of your site. Make sure that your “/wp-content/uploads” folder is writable. This my speed up the site loading time. Note that this operation may take some time, so the video content may not be immediately accessible. The following video file extensions are supported: mp4, m4v, mov, wmv, avi, mpg, ogv, 3gp, 3g2.

BTW, I'm thinking on adding a new feature which will allow one to automatically convert syndicated video files to any format via ffmpeg (e.g. FLV/WMV/MOW/3GP/MPG to MP4 H.264 convertation, video resolution resize, sound adjustment etc...)

As you may know, after four years of preparation and debate the GDPR was finally approved by the EU Parliament on 14 April 2016. It was enforced on 25 May 2018 – and organizations that are not compliant could now face heavy fines. So many websites have changed their privacy policy which affected the behavior. find the "User agent" field and put there the following line: Baidu UA ("Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Baiduspider; +http://www.baidu.com/search/spider.html)"

click "Update default Settings"

Done! Now you will be able to syndicate Tumblr RSS feeds with CyberSEO running at your EU-based server.
