    I don't understand spammers

    One of our sites gets lots of form spam that contains this actual data

    (Company Name, Personal name, Address, Tel, Email address)

    Tel: 555-666-0606
    [email protected]

    We have filters to get rid of this of course but this is what the spam data looks like. Why are their entities out there sending this out? The "info" is useless, the phone and email address fake, etc. What is the point?

          An obvious guess would be that it has to do with getting past spam filters or testing filters.

                              its to get you to open the email and get past your spam/junk filters. the more times you open it, especially in gmail, the less likely Gmail will think it's junk... then they have you right were they want you!

                                  I don't get why anyone bothers to spam any more. Next to the contextual ads that pop up on numerous websites, spam seems like an old and obsolete technology... lame.

                                      On one of my domains I get a lot of spam for what are touted as "hacking and carding" sites according to the subject lines. I just delete them a dozen or so times a day and get on with my life. PITA

                                          The ONLY spam that gets through my spamarrest and GMail is from an "RX" company referencing my name, fake address, and confirmation about an order.

                                          I don't even open them and just mark them as spam, YET Gmail still lets them through, every day, multiple times a day. The ONLY spam that slips through Gmail. Hope it's not a new trend
