The water was a little dirty, but we still had one of the best days spearfishing ever. 500lbs of Mero (Jew Fish), 200lbs of Pargo Rojo (Red Snapper), 100lbs of Robalo (Snook) plus some Corvina (Sea Bass) and Bujala (Amberjack).
isn't this something that people used to do like 1200 years ago???
LOL... I doubt it. It's not that easy. You have to be able to dive deep, hold your breath and be willing to shoot a fish that might take you for a ride if you don't stone kill it.
A 20lb snapper or amberjack is a lot more powerful than you are in the water and if you don't want to lose your gun, you better be able to stay down and eventually use your knife to cut the line.
Try and imagine what one of these 70lbs jew fish could do, let alone a 300lbs tuna.
my brother is into fly fishing - he buys gear for thousands of dollars and he must have caught 4 fishes ... five max
I use to fly fish a lot... trout in north GA where I had a small farm and out west. Also in Texas for red fish in the back water.
I miss that and don't do much fly fishing here in Panama although I have all my gear here.
Here's the gun I use. It's 175cm long or about 5 1/2 feet.
Holy fucking shit dude, that's a big bastard. I got a boat but don't do much fishing anymore. Anyone in Virginia wanna set something up sometime? Night time fishing, pornstars, beer. You know, a good time

It's the biggest snook I've ever seen.
Night time land trout fishing and beer sounds fun!
