    My Parrot eats chicken...

    Is there something wrong with this? Should I not give it to him? He loves Dominos Buffalo kickers.....is this unethical?

                  Parrots are no more closely related to chickens than we are to cows. Mammals eat mammals, why shouldn't birds eat birds?

                  My parrots have all loved meat. I had a grey that would *demolish* chicken bones to get the marrow out.

                      i don't feel as guilty now. I thought that maybe they didnt' have the enzymes to digest that shit. I want an African Grey. right now I have 2 cockatoos and one macaw.

                                      Some of the little birds are pretty much vegetarians, but most larger parrots are omniverous feeders of opportunity. My grey's glee when cracking bones convinced me that he would happily be a carrion eater in the wild if he got half a chance. The vet tsk-tsked about the chicken bone marrow because of high fat content, but allowed as how it should be no problem as a special treat. (Yeah, right -- I want to see *her* sit within three feet of that bird without sharing whatever-ya-got.)
