Was a good place but it's changing pretty quickly - and not for the better.
Generally visitors love the place for all sorts of reasons and it's fine for a short while.
For folks who live there - in general, they want to get the hell out.

but I'd never dream of locating to any industrialised/highly-geared country - ever. The lifestyle is amazingly pointless and utter shit - and this not only applies to the UK, but also several other countries in the EU and the US.
It is noticeable in most industrialised countries that immigration continues from not-so-well-off countries while people in a position to "escape" are moving out to a much superior lifestyle and without the crap baggage of industrialised-world governments and laws.
