Hollywood actor Slater to divorce
Actor Christian Slater has filed for divorce from his wife of nearly five years, TV producer Ryan Haddon.
The divorce petition stated irreconcilable differences.
Slater's spokeswoman said: "The mutual decision was reached amicably and they remain committed to raising their two young children together."
Haddon was arrested in November 2003 for allegedly hitting Slater with a glass in a Las Vegas hotel room but no charges were brought against her.
Critical acclaim
Slater, 35, married Haddon on 14 February 2000 and separated on 5 January, papers filed at Los Angeles Superior Court stated.
Slater requested joint custody of the couple's two children, a five-year-old son and a three-year-old daughter.
The actor's career has included roles in films such as The Name of the Rose, Hard Rain, Broken Arrow, Windtalkers and Murder in the First.
Slater has taken over the role of Tom in the Broadway revival of Tennessee Williams drama The Glass Menagerie which opens in March.
He recently won critical acclaim for his performance in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest in London's West End.
