Why are foreign cars better than American cars?

    Why are foreign cars better than American cars?

    You know what I mean. For example Honda and Toyota compared to Chrysler and Ford and so on. In terms of resale value and driving with reliability. Why do we not make the best cars? Is it simply not important because the American car companies have some owernship in those foreign companies anyway?

    I don't understand why.

          Cuz the Asians run everything. All your electronics and NICE cars ;) Sorry, i Just dispise domestic cars..there may be a few i like but not many at all..i like ALOT and i mean ALOT of foreign cars. Id list em if i wasnt so fucking tired. havent slept yet and its 8am here.

              Half of the stuff in American cars is foreign made, so there are no real American cars anymore...

              And the American auto companies have turned their focus to the bottom line instead of quality..

              When Lee Iacocca helped to pull Chrysler out of the toilet some years ago, his philosophy was that if you focus on quality, the bottom line will take care of itself.. Then even he turned to the dollar signs..

                                              Foreign cars are no longer better than American cars.
                                              This was true in the 70's and 80's and most of the 90's, however, American manufacturer cleaned up their acts and are now producing higher quality vehicles. Keep in mind that most Toyota's and Honda's are produced in the US with US parts. So, can they really be considered foreign when 90% of their output is US?
                                              You are talking about acquired perception, which is very difficult to change.

                                                      You can't pay me to buy an american car. I do like the new Mustang Gt's and Vipers but would never buy one. I like the typical german and asian brands

                                                          Interesting... is this true of all Foreign cars including the German cars listed in this thread or is this only the case for traditionally Japanese cars?

                                                                      Japanese cars are made with foreign content and assembled here. Back in the 70's and 80's we always blamed the factory workers for the shitty cars. It turns out it was management and the engineers. BMW and Mercedes assemble here without issues so it was not the workers.

                                                                          - They have better engines (i.e. you guys need to have like 5.8 engines to do the same European companys can make with lets say 3.5)

                                                                          - They can do corners ;)

                                                                          - They look much better

                                                                          - They are overall much much more reliable
