International Tattoo Expo Merida, Yucatan, Mexico May 20-21, 2006
I already posted a few pics yesterday but here's what I gathered, had room to store and save. Artists from all over the world, Russia, Bulgaria and Denmark etc, including a couple from USA and of course many from Mexico. Many styles shown from conventional machine to ancient hand created tats, scarification and burning.
Here's my tat done by good friend and world renowned Pedro Alvarez, Neo Azteca Tattoo. This is the second tat done for me by Pedro, he's staying with me for 2 weeks working in one of my extra rooms as a studio, then going on to Los Cabos for 2 weeks, then Barcelona, New York, Toronto and then back to Cancun. Originally from Mexico City, studies heavily in the ancient symbolism of the Aztec and Mayan Cultures. This tat was done for the competition which we didn't win, but it was designed by Pedro and I for almost a year of planning and wasn't done to "win", it was done as a planned piece. The judges liked the bigger pieces more of course with lots of details.

Chick with a hard to see razor scarification and leg tats who found some reason to follow me around all night and get her picture taken with me. ?? I didn't get all here tats, she had more: (I was short on memory and didn't bring my laptop to download the camera)

Cut and peel scarification. This was cut 1/4" wide and peeled out, different than a normal razor scarification = 4 hours of work; + 2 pics of their other work, Teflon Penis implants and razor scarification:
