Is this guy a fucking idiot or what?

So we were talking to this fellow for a while, he'd contacted me off of a link he saw somewhere. Anyways, he had studio space for rent. We were looking for space for one day to meet some models (we wanted a more central location to meet the more far-flung girls), so he said he was renting his studio out. We said we'd look at it, and although it was smaller than we would have liked, it was sufficient for our needs, so we agreed to rent it.

We show up the day that was agreed upon, we pay the fellow his money for the rental, and wait for him to clear out. Not only does he NOT leave, he nicely informs us that he plans on scouting the models WE are interviewing. "I'll just give them my email address ok?" We nixed that idea, telling him that unless he was going to pay half for the ads, or pay us a referral fee, he could pretty much take a hike. Fair enough, I would think, considering we paid him for use of the space. We were extremely unhappy with his statement, so we agreed to look elsewhere for space in the future..


So today I get this email. Months ago he had told me about a model he had worked with and had a good experience with. That's all. Didn't refer her or anything, simply said she was good to work with when I asked him, because I knew he had worked with her. So we shot her not too long ago. This moron emails me today and has the audacity to claim I OWE him a referral fee for her, because we shot her, and could I please pay him by Tuesday, he's short on his rent. Considering I emailed her INDEPENDANTLY of him, and simply asked him what she was like to work with and no more (in fact, I had already contacted her when I asked him), I don't believe I owe him SQUAT, especially considering his behavior when we rented his space. Am I crazy? Or is this guy a fucking idiot? I have no problem paying referrals to those who EARN them. I just can't believe this tool.
