AdultFriendFinder & "God's Own Traffic" -- AN UPDATE

Hi, I work for the 56th largest Web site in the World.

For those of you who may not be familiar with us, it?s called AdultFriendFinder.com.

We help bring people together for sex, dates or whatever, from all walks of life, from all over the world.

There are about 90,000 people on the site right now, and over 18 million active members. Pretty cool, huh!

During the last few months, we?ve been getting what I can only describe as God?s Own Traffic.

We introduced a bunch of exciting new promotional tools, including lots of geo-sensitive ads and linking strategies. The results have been simply overwhelming. Affiliates are making more money with AdultFriendFinder.com than ever before.

Believe me, I know ? I have the extraordinary pleasure and responsibility of sending them their checks.

With that kind of success and unprecedented traffic, however, it?s only logical that our infrastructure would give the occasional shiver or suffer the occasional hiccup.

I?d like to apologize for all of that and for the inconveniences that result whenever technology doesn?t work as it?s specced. As I?ve already reassured many of you personally, you will be compensated for any lost revenues owing to such ?growing pains?.

I hope everyone understands that when your ?problem? is having too much traffic, things breaking in the middle of the night DOES NOT mean we?re having trouble paying the rent. Quite the contrary, as a matter of fact -- LOL.

So, my promise to make it up to you with CASH should cause no one any insecurity. Just give me, or your extremely capable AFF rep, a holler. We?ll take care of it. Period.

Now there are some things you probably don?t know about FriendFinder Inc. that it may be a good moment to tell you.

I?ve worked all kinds places, but never anything like FriendFinder. I?ve worked for technology companies with product development cycles with a beginning, a middle and an end.

But, at FF, we are ALWAYS in a development cycle. IT NEVER ENDS.

To be honest, at first it didn?t make any sense to me. But then I realized that only by being in a perpetual state of BETA TEST can you keep up the pace of development and rate of innovation we have and still do, and (God willing) always will.

I?d say it?s the number one reason for our success. Credit: Andrew Conru ? it?s all his doing. I?m just a delirious seaman on the deck of sailboat with a 10,000 foot mast. Yeah, that?s what it feels like in here!

So, here?s the deal ? we?re spending millions on hardware, we?re sparing no expense to keep the sail firmly attached to the deck.

Among the things we?re doing are:

Increasing Server Capacity by 50% -- larger cages, many, many more boxes.

Reorganizing our basic storage infrastructure for better balancing and CPU utilization.

Replacing our Front-Door Routers, which will reduce packet loss by an order of magnitude.

In closing, I?d like all of you know that there has never been a better time to be an AdultFriendFinder.com affiliate. The site is more packed with features and member value than ever. There are more people on the site to convert your traffic. Webmaster checks are larger than ever. Our affiliate management team is more capable than ever.
