This morning I awoke to the sounds of the ship creaking. The small bit of hay which I had fashioned into my makeshift pillow had slowly shifted away and my ear lay on the splintered wooden deck. I could sense the restlessness of the animals around me and it made for an uneasy feeling. As I stood up, the ship rocked again and I had to brace myself on the wall of the stall to keep from falling over. It seemed as if the spirits I had consumed last night still had hold of me.
As I stumbled through the narrow corridor, on my way to escape the pungent smells of my stowaway hold, I was careful to avoid being discovered by the ships crew. Although I had not yet met the Captain, I was certainly in no hurry to do so. I had overheard him speaking the evening before and by the sound of his voice you could tell that he was a stern man who would have no reservations about throwing a stowaway like me overboard.
Once outside, I took in the awesome sight. They sky was grey, the wind was brisk, the water was a deathly darkish blue, and there was no land in sight. Standing there, I wondered if we would ever see dry land again.
Should I ever be discovered, I fear that my journal may fall into the wrong hands. To avoid this, I have been hiding it in my ass. There is kindly man and
his Wench traveling with me who have been informed of the discreet location of my treasured writings in case of my untimely demise. There appear to be a
few families on board who are also lurking in the shadows for fear of being discovered. There is an elderly hag who sits in an odd looking chair which has
a wheel attached to each side. Not many of us have seen such a thing and several of the children seem squeamish around her.
Ah, they are starting to feed the animals now so I must put my journal away and see if I can find some welcome nutrition in the pig trough. It's been so long since I've had a real meal........
