What do you use to make thumbs?

I need to make a bunch of galleries. Do you know a program that will create portrait thumbs from both landscape and portrait images.

    Thanks

Yeah IMO id say use PS actions and as a batch job like jacked mentiond.

Othewise there is a ton of good Thumbnail creating software out there, alot of decent free ones too.

          Good luck..

            Hi there
Thanks for the reply. I downloaded it and tested. It seems to only have the stretch to fit option. Im looking for something that will make all portrait thumbs using a trim method and not distorting the thumb

Well, I've found it's easier to make a whole person. Thumbs are included, usually.

I use Photoshop, the only way to go!
SIG TOO BIG! Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of DEFAULT SIZE and COLOR. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60. Let me repeat... A 120 x 60 button and no more that 3 lines of DEFAULT SIZE AND COLOR text.

best bet is to take the time and just use PS to do them considering most of the programs just shrink to fit, and you get better looking thumbs because your choosing the section of the thumb that you wanted, and when you shrink the image it shouldn't distort it all...

If I'm concerned about the thumbs being nicely colored and cropped in special ways, I use Photoshop. If I'm lazy, I'll script one using ImageMagik and PHP and run it against a directory.

Best SW you can use for that purpose is WebImageGuru, it can smart crop any images, really fast and reliable, can do batch also.

Photoshop, Fireworks, or have a script do it on the fly on your site with ImageMagick or GD.
