    DVD Burners---Still too soon?

I need a DVD burner really bad, but I'd hate to buy one only to find that in one month they've dropped 50% in price & are twice as fast. I remember when I bought my first CD Burner, 8x and it was the shit, for $250....now you can get a 40x for under $100.

How fast do you guys think the technology will advance?

Woe is me, I need storage....lots.

I have had a burner for months. Nice but not as useful as cd.

If you need more storage, seriously just pick up some more ata drives. cheaper and more storage space.

It is the same as any technology. If you wait for them to stop improving them, you will never get one. If you need/want one this week, buy one this week.

              Recent model and OS?

I find the two main sources of that perception are:

1.) Using an outdated model, and trying to compare it with current PCs.

2.) Not being used to a different paradigm.

                You forgot the 3

the people who let their girlfriends buy iMacs and think iMacs are what a Mac really is.

                hahahaha

The real expensive thing is the blank DVDs.

Last I checked they were about $12 each, so you gotta think more before you decide to burn one.

Regular blank CDs are so cheap now they're like candy. I pop one in and burn shit and don't think twice if I only use 100mb of the disk capacity.

                      12 bucks for 9 gigs.

                      16 bucks for 32500 megs (650 megs X 50)

                      is about where it is.

the DVD discs are open ended like my Zip Burner, meaning it acts as a hard drive until youre ready to dump and burn.

I still don't feel right putting like 50 megs on a CD.

When was the last time you checked prices? I'm only paying $1 to $2 per dvdr.

Get the Pioneer 104 (I have 12 of them). I pay around $250 for them and they record 2X.

Media is cheap now. Shop4tech will sell you a spindle of 100 1X Leda DVD-R for for 89 cents each.

I go through them like toilet paper.
