So we are on our way down Sugar Loaf today (Pao de Azucar) and the fucking thing locks up mid way on the top portion... people falling down and the cart is swinging all over the place.
The car going up FLEW up the mountian and next thing you know, we are all over the place with a several hundered foot drop below us. We were stuck for couple minutes and then they took us down VERY slow. And it happened again. Then they got us the rest of the way down. The cars shut down for a while after that... and we waited to film the next group of dumb asses to go up in case it dropped. Real TV baby!!! Nada.
We don't know what happened but it was was one scary fucking moment. We thought we were gonna drop they way it was swinging.
The irony is we were poking fun at the view of Corcovadao (jesus monument) perfectly framed in the open window as if it was the last thing you were going to see before the cable broke... 30 seconds later we were on our ass, cafr swinging at a dead stop. fuck. The same Corcavado that almost fried me in 2003 after a lightning storm came in while I was up there, hitting Jesus and charging him with electricity... bolts of blue static was coming from his arms onto us, making hair stand on end. freaky shit.
Then we did the helicopter around Rio.
