Scammer chick owns herself...

So about 6 months ago, I finished building this website for this mainstream chick. She paid half upfront but still owed me a couple grand and kept putting me off saying she was waiting to get some chunk of money and then she would settle up with me. She disappeared off the face of the earth. Cell turned off, emails getting sent back, etc. I had finally just chalked it up as a loss and moved on.

Stupid bitch should have checked her address book. I just got an invitation to join her Yahoo Group.

Thats why whenever I setup a site for someone, I include an encrypted page that basically will disable the site after a certain date. If they make a payment ontime or finalize the bill I either remove that code or move the date out a little further.

For most people they can't figure out how to get around it since the site depends on that encrypted page being there. So just something to think of for the future.

How is that written btw? Like a php script or something? I need to do that lol.

You can use it with any web lan. like php, asp, cfm ... and so on. just make an application page that will hold vars required from other pages within the site and then encrypt it. unless they can crack that page, without it the site will not work. just make sure to put the expiration code in it and to keep a normal backup copy of that page. once you encrypt it, normally you should not be able to get the code back.

Bringing bad business deals to the boards is a last resort. The majority who do this just want attention. We rarely hear the other side.

Don't know about Nick's work, but I do know he is a bullshitter and does not look into the facts. Don't trust him on the boards, so I wouldn't hire him.

I said that I don't. The business is mixed-up with the crap so you have to know the players to understand what is what. Most don't bother to check out the facts. That is why so many webmasters get burned. Sure, it is *fun reading* when there are fights on the boards, but many times innocent people get hurt.
