if your gunna take an unknown you need to take either defoe or bent rather than crouch. Bent is top english scorer this season, and crouch is just too slow

Bent hasnt done anything for England .. he's been given chances
Crouch.. just bounce the ball of him.. he doesnt need speed.
Disagree bent has like 2 caps, crouch has 5! We need speed up front by how sven has set up the team and crouch isnt the greatest on the ball hes just good in the air and sometimes gets in good positions.

well i would have taken harewood or ashton, the former had a shocker yesterday, while the latter was brilliant. Apparently rooney will be fit, theres piccys of him riding a bike today. Bent imo is a bad version of owen and defoe isnt even first choice at spurs.

Did any of you guys see crouch against argentina? He came on in the 80th minute at 2-1 down and set two goals up for owen, hes a presence and that is what that team needs if lennon, downing and the like are gonna play.
Theres a school of thought that says joe cole should play up front because after the season hes had he cant be left out

Cole should be playing up front i think thats the plan atm, if i remember correctly he didnt set up 2 he set up 1 and the last goal which owen scored crouch was holding on to him, if he had missed the boy woulda got a right earful, Harewood was great for west ham, shame he was injured at the end he coulda won it.
Crouch is handy to have around, especially against teams with a good defence. Just throw high balls into the box from Beckham or Cole onto his head. Surely he'll coz chaos and create chances.
If Rooney plays he's very unlikely to be fit and probably more of a liability than a help. Remember he will be half fit and up against players at the top of their game.
Owen, time will tell if he's fit.
Crouch, was taken off against West Ham because he was outplayed by a guy who has never got into the England side. He's only going to be a sub who might upset a defense.
Defoe, so out of form I feel sorry for him. At his best he would be a top player, but he's not NOW.
Bent, totally out of his class at International level. There have been many great club and league players who simply did not have it when they stepped up to International level. Peter Osgood and Jeff Astle are fine examples.
Walcott, he will be up against tougher players and defenses than he has ever experienced. One on one he might have a chance. But Henry, Owen and many other great EXPERIENCED players have problems at this level.
The World Cup is the real thing, not comic magazines.
Totally agree matt, if we play 3 upfront then crouch is fine hes got 2 other fwds to play onto (say cole and owen) but with just him and say owen, it leaves owen too much todo, crouch looses the ball too fast.
