COMMON SENSE, idiot.
Take 2 garden hoses and some duct tape. Now hook hose 1 up turn on the water and cut sideways and then try stoping the leak. Then hook hose 2 up and turn it on and cut lengthwise and see if it easier or harder to stop leaking. Also see how much water comes out of each hose.
