Selling email list from My Membership Site.

I asked this question on another thread and no one replied.

I have over 5K emails from the last 3 years from ibill memberships to my now closed membership site, my monthly membership was $34.95 so these guys were ready to spend.

My question.... Ibill fucked me and owes a lot of money and I shut down the site. 1. Would it be ethical for me to sell the email list ? 2. How much do you think 5K+ emails would be worth ?

Did you tell your members that if they signed up to your list their details would be kept confidential?

If so yes it would be unethical.

A better idea would be to change processors over to ccbill and reemail the list yourself to a new site and retain both your integrity and your members data.

Na there was nothing mentioned that the information would be kept confidental to my knowledge, nothing that I put, not sure if Ibill had some lingo on their signup pages.

I shut down the site, it kinda sucked when we switched to plug in feeds and the membership base is down to about 100 with ibill. I doubt many of those who have already canceled to my site would come sign back up if i switched to ccbill but i am sure they would be open to other sites ?

5k emails from a list that hasn't been cleaned isn't going to be worth much.
but you could still make a few dollars with it

Join a good program that would appeal to the people who joined your site
and send out an email thanking them for their past business with you
go on about how ibill screwed you and you had to close shop

then put in a good word about the new site and a link containing your aff code
You could probably make more that way than just selling the list

Good email lists can be worth up to 1 penny per email.
Really good lists can be up to maybe 5 or 6 cents.

No I don't make Million(s). Yes this is the same guy, i am cleaning house. Curious how much it was worth. As the same person that would assume sell it then take the time to clean it and mail on it because I have no time, too busy working on stuff more important.

Just because you make a lot of money does that mean you are suppose to throw money away too ? (nice logic) Thats how you stop making money, lol. not keep making it. This email thread took a couple minutes of my time and thats all I want to spend on the site,list, domain, etc.. (realitywebcams.com)

The other thing is called education. I have no idea the value of what these emails are worth, I don't deal with sites that collect emails and I dont mail or buy list. I am trying to learn something here as well...
