You know, after watching TV tonight, I think its safe to declare that Cable TV offically sucks and is no longer worth a line on the monthly list of expenses.
When cable first started, they used to tell you the reason you paid for it was because there we no ads except on the broadcast networks. And for a time, that was true. Then slowly... ads. First a few, now they are on every channel except the premiums. And even those have ads for thier own shows. Matter of time before they start running spots for Tide or Miller.
They used to tell you that the reason you got cable was so that you had something other than the six broadcast channels the rabbit ears picked up (if you were lucky). Back then, there was one shopping channel and one government channel. Infomercials were only on a couple of channels and even then only at late hours. Now we have 80 channels, 30 of which are trash channels that arent good for anything, including three channels that display the high school lunch menu and at least 15 shopping channels. Jesus Christ, no wonder bankruptcy is so bad, who the hell could keep track of all thier flex-pay payments across 20 different vendors?
And now, to top it all off, many networks like USA or TNT routinely play the same movie back to back and sometimes to back to back. I understanding playing it twice a day. Thats cool. But three times? Right in a row? Come on! Harrison Ford did a good job in the Fugitive, but Jesus Fucking Christ, it doesnt need to be shown three times in a row.
So yes, fuck you cable. Your day has come. Just like the washboard and washtub have left the home, so shall you.
