i just started not too long ago. however i started with this board ;)
been playing around with creating TGP posting pages as a start- its been a good learning experience the entire way.

Unfortunately, there is not a "key to the city" or riches in this industry. I think we all are just trying to keep up with the ever changing environment, and technologies to stay one step ahead of the game. If we knew the key to riches, we would probably all have our administrative assistants typing out these messages on the board instead of us as we take a break from out 20 hour days.

A lot of it's trial and error for the niche, and what works or doesn't for you. There is a lot of work to get established, and then a lot of work to maintain. You are in the sea with a lot of other sharks, so it's a balancing act. About all I can tell you is don't count on any one thing, you need to diversify and that goes for traffic, to what you are selling, and so on. Make sure with a paysite you cover all of the bases. If you get good traffic going, make sure you are hitting it a couple of different ways, both in sponsors, or affiliates, plus memberships, and so on. Cross promote with everyone you can find in your niche, and make sure you are anal about who does and doesn't send you traffic. If one doesn't help, change and try someone new.

A lot of it is a numbers game, some of it's luck, and some is just careful planning as we are not rich, and running up bandwidth with no conversions is never good. But then you can always sell off your traffic as well. So just make sure you hit it from a number of angels, and then go from there.
