Escalators are actually only in places where you may have your arms full of merchandise or luggage and are for helping the elderly and handicapped to reach the second floor of buildings. I kinda doubt you'd find one outside

Elderly and handicapped need elevators. Wheelchairs and slow reaction-times don't work well on escalators.
