Is GFY's performance (speed) an indicator of jupiters network an speed?

No a lot has to do with the server it's on and the processes running also.

This is a large message board that has had to move servers many times in the past.

Jupiter itself has very fast speed and Poppy and the crew over there is doing an excellent job in building and maintaining Jupiter.

i dont really think that you can judge them by the way gfy runs, gfy is a massive board and it may be outgrowing its current setup

look at the tours of adult.com sites, that will give you more accurate measure of how fast they are....

Like any monster, GFY needs care and feeding. Lensman gives us (at Jupiter) a considerable amount of autonomy to make sure it runs as fast as it can.

We're "on the hook" for GFY is what I'm tryng to say. That's how we approach all of our business. We are accountable.

With that said, GFY can be a killer.

If you removed the DDoS / DoS Attacks, highly aggressive proxy based spiders, the folks trying to bring down the site through any means possible, and a massively growing user base, the site would be constantly fast. It's a daily effort to prevent / stop attacks while supporting huge growth. As they say though, "if you build a better mouse trap, they'll build a better mouse". Their will never be a winner so we must fight these things on a daily basis.

Behind the scene, we have a full time GFY admin who's job is to make sure GFY stays up. When it gets slow, find the cause and nuke it.

I think the best way to judge Jupiter would be to look at who we host. Check out the speed from a few different spots, and ask yourself why more than 50% of the top adult internet sites host with us.
