I like how it is much more simplyfied than ICQ, the webcam + sound conversations etc. I was forced to use it because loads of contacts started switching over from ICQ back in the day. I still use ICQ for my old schoolers. I use ICQ mainly for business, and MSN for both business and personal stuff.
trillian is very very solid. I don't EVER remember it crashing or locking up once since I have installed it. I HATE the stock trillian skin. It's unusable so I installed the "Aikon Classic LCD Pro" skin. very streamlined looking and easy to read.
Also, set your contacts list to sort "By Medium". much less confusing.
I gave Trilian (yet) another chance some weeks ago but, I can't get used to it, plus it fucked up my contacts list
Gotta give it more time to sink in and get used to it. trust me, I hated it at first but gave it a full blown try last year. I tried it a year before and couldnt stand it. Once you customize it to your liking you'll seriouly love it. Best of all, no annoying sounds and colors from idiots who think pink on a green background is nice.
the only downfall I can see to trillian is if you add someone to the icq list on it it doesn't add it sever-side. so an occasional contacts list backup is a smart thing to do. it's easy to find. it's in the users directory in the trillian program folder.

I love trillian... makes my life easier having one big contact list. Although, to be honest... it's been so long since I've used icq that I'm sure I wouldn't even recognize it now.
I no longer bother with messengers. It's not like I need constant contact with my sponsors, and I can't leave it open for people to contact me from the board because all of the other junk. I also quit running my friends/family messenger (MSN) because I cannot afford to be a 24/7 free computer support service
