lol, Got a few HOURS? Gather around the campfire, people, I have horror stories about solo girls. We ALL have the same problems. It's not easy, and the only solution to keeping them happy long term is to let them walk all over you.Originally posted by Kard63So who has some solo girl horror stories ? How risky are they?
I'm amazed at the demands these girls can make, and how little they credit our efforts for their "success", but we get ALL the blame if they fail.
My opinion about all the new solo girl sites opening now? We should start a for-fun website that keeps odds on when the model will finally flip out. Its never IF, its only WHEN!
I predict a ton of sites that will be closed or for sale within 6 months. There are so many things that go into a successful site BEYOND just the girl and the content. We pump over $1 million dollars a year into the marketing of our girls. How much are all the new companies going to be able to spend? And where are they going to spend it, most of the best traffic is virtually locked up in long term arrangements. Think about that brand new webpages are greatly outnumbered now by archives that have been built over YEARS.
To get a solo site off the ground now requires a lot more than a hot girl and good pictures. It takes TRAFFIC, and a TON OF IT. If you can't send a LOT of traffic to ONE sponsor now, what do you think will change if YOU are the sponsor? And if you can't support a site with YOUR OWN traffic, what will you do until the affiliate traffic comes? What if it doesn't?
A rare *great site* will rise to the top within weeks of launching, you know its a hit, because people tell their friends when they are banging joins, and everyone piles on it like a pot of gold.
But let a site fail with just a COUPLE big traffic players, and you might as well take it out back and shoot it.
We've had more winners than losers, knock on wood. But when a site fails, its painful for the girl and the company.
Thats when the horror stories come out...

Yeah, she was. I was sorry to lose her as an exclusive Lightspeedgirl. I imagine Kinzie is popular enough now to support two sites, her current one, and the one that features all her early 18-19 content before she became a star. ;)Originally posted by inthestarsSteve, didn't Kinzie Kenner used to be one of your girls?

No, Kinzie made herself a star. I'm sorry to say that I didn't really get enough time to help her all that much. It takes time to change large traffic patterns, its tough to us to launch new sites ourselves sometimes. Newness will help a site for only a month or two, then most affiliates like to chose two or three girls of their favorites to push from one program. It can be tough on a new site in a network with a lot of girls, especially when ALL the girls are high-caliber.

You can make a buck at it. However, its the hardest buck you will ever earn. God, I could pack the week after Steve was finshed with all the other stories that would make people RUN from wanting to do solo sites.
Hey Steve, maybe we should do a tag team seminar at the show in AZ. Between me and you, we would have everyone quiting. haha
Just a couple rules:
1.) Shoot all your content upfront.
2.) Never and I mean NEVER take your models to shows. People (webmasters who think they have game) steal models and the girls are dumb enough to think they can do better with any joe with a camera and a bottle of Crystal ( or however you spell it ).
Follow those two rules and you might stand a prayer in hell.

I say dont partner with the model shoot most of the content you will need up front and pay her. I also dont believe there is no chance for a new site to make it . They were peddling that nonsense at the atlanta show. You have no chance but if you have a good idea come to us lol.Comment

If shooting everything up front is the way to go, then how many rolls should be shot? How much video? How many days should you spend on it?
ps. I'm planning on shooting gay guys not girls. Like you said, the market is flooded with that.Comment

Yep, total bullshit. Its a ploy used by some of the bigger programs now just because they are losing such a huge chuck of their market share to these small programs. I would be nervous and spit stuff out like that also if I were them. Small programs can whip out sites in days and do it for way less money and time then a big program can. The small to middle size webmasters are ruling this industry now, and the big programs are scurrying to catch up. Many of the big, older programs, with the exceptions of a couple have lost touch with who is driving this business now.Originally posted by tony404I also dont believe there is no chance for a new site to make it . Ironically, that's what I was told at my first show too. I thought we were talking about RISKS here. It is very risky to enter this arena unless you know what you are doing. I got lucky in a lot of ways, I was doing this for fun, and I caught some good breaks and good mentors along the way.Originally posted by tony404I also dont believe there is no chance for a new site to make it . I'm not saying its not possible. I think I'm living proof that David can compete with Goliath. I honestly don't want to be percieved as Goliath just yet, btw.
And yeah, we are planning to do a seminar at Phoenix Forum for solo sites and program owners. I think it will be great for everyone to realize how many issues and problems the solo site owner have in common. And yes, I'll be pitching Lightspeedcash, and telling models what is realistic in todays marketplace.

Ok, now you've learned how to send traffic, and you have a hot girl. Are you a good photographer? Do you have a good photographer working for you?
Its WORK. These girls are hot, yes. But to create a site full of content takes WEEKS to generate. Can you both spare that much time? Do you want to hang out a lot? Can she last more that 2 or 3 hours in front of a camera at a time, before she knows if her site is going to fly or not?
What if she gets pregnant now? Or changes her mind when her parents find out? Or gets a new boyfriend who wants her to quit? She could walk, and what are you going to do? Sue her? She doesn't have any money, that's why she was modeling in the first place right?
Being stuck with a dead site with affiliates pushing traffic, and members expecting updates is a big risk. Shooting content ahead is a good plan, but again, how much can you invest into a site that isn't open yet? Is she really going to work for free? Then if the site doesn't fly, you are not only stuck with a dead site, but she's going to tell everyone that you fucked her over. Welcome to reality!Abra-cadabra!Comment

Lol, I do sound a little gloomy here don't I?
On the positive side, a solo site can .....
nope, can't think of any positives....
Back to doom and gloom...
How will you deal when your best traffic affiliates and partners tell you "I loved her, but I think my surfers are getting tired of her, I have to pull those links... can you come out with another girl soon to replace her?
Thats my favorite!Abra-cadabra!Comment

Ok, you want specifics? My answer is 200 sets. Then you can launch a site with a respectable amount of content, and have a 3 year run with one girl, assuming you use one new set per week.
A solo site without much content or updates won't retain, and you'll lose affiliates over crappy rebills. After a site is live for two years, (150 sets online), start pulling a set of the oldest content for every new one you add. You'll have a rotating 150 sets online, and the content that gets pulled won't show up again for another year.
Of those 200 sets, at least 1/4 should be video sets.
We try to shoot 200 sets of content in 20 days, at 10 sets/day.Last edited by SteveLightspeed; 02-15-2005, 10:06 PM.Abra-cadabra!Comment

As far as money, I heard that producing original content costs about $5.00 a pic. Is that the right number?Comment

I am packing for Jamaica!!
hmmm...
Let's see how many models have we had MAJOR problems with?
I would say about 11. That is RIGHT. ELEVEN.
Two of the models were in local newspapers AND TV. There phones went beserk, so that was that...
Four models were either getting married or something like that, and cause a whole pot full of shit for us to handle with their newly found grooms, etc..
One we got back.
One we took to a show by MISTAKE. ACK. (There ARE girls who ARE smart, and CAN handle the shows. Most can't.) This one could not. Long story... short ending
Two more we still have, but their neighborhood and local modeling agencies found out about their "sites" and well, they braved it. Did well, and that is NOT normal. Proud of them both.
The last one, her dad WAS a senator. Nice 12:00 am, phone call from your local senator, always does the trick. I knew her last name was familiar...
There is a WHOLE lot more to the stories, but yeah, if you're lucky to have a CUTE girl who does well, awesome. But building 20 sites, with a mountain of content, advertising, traffic, affiliates, promo material, alternate tours, multi language, affiliate software, geo ip, coding out the ass, solid trades and relationships, money invested, blah blah blah... THEN it will be an accomplishment.
