what would you choose?

i can get the olympus for only 800$ with 1 lens kit
about the canon 20d. its worth almost 1000$ with lens and stuff.
anyone have experiences with these cameras? i heard that olympus e-500 has self-cleaning features and canon 20d doesnt have and a lot of people here would vouch on canon 20d. what do you think? im just starting photography so what do you think would be the best for a newbie like me? thanks guys.
