...while hiking through the Niagara Gorge (near the Whirlpool).
I was in the gorge doin' some photography and looking for an old cave I'd heard about...when suddenly this deer appears on the rocky slope just above me about 20-30 yards away.
We stood there starin' at one another for about 4-5 minutes, and I managed to get a dozen shots or so before it took off in the trees.
Deer sightings in that area (especially during tourist season) are extremely rare...especially during daylight. The terrain is hellish and not easy to navigate at the best of times.
