The pH of your skin is about 5.5 making it acidic in nature and the pH of the vagina is close to 4 making it more acidic than your skin. The acidic nature of the vagina allows for a healthy environment free from harmful bacteria and yeast. Personal lubricants have there own pH which interacts and alters our pH.
It is critical that a personal lubricant be pH balanced to meet the acidic nature of sensitive genital areas. It should be around pH 4 to help combat harmful bacteria and yeast.
