"The resistance to blood flow of light and moderate users - who usually smoked an average of 11 and 44 joints per week, respectively - was starting to return to normal."
hmm, moderate user is considered 6 joints per day?
This whole research is f'ed up, it's like examining coffee drinkers that drink 50 cups of cofee each day, and discovering that it causes liver damage... Just about anything in excess will mess you up...
"We know the cardiovascular effect [of cannabis] is very complex and multi-factorial so it's not as simple as with other drugs. The group that needs to be studied now is people that use high quality medicinal extracts."
I have never heard of anyone that could smoke 50 joints a day.. One every 30 minutes is pretty damn heavy, and normally it would slow down as the day went on. That's only 24 in a 12 hour wake period.. So this guy smokes a Joint every 15 minutes.
Caffeine likely has more of an effect on blood pressure / flow than cannabis ...
NIDA's main mission quite really is to show illicit substances/plants in the most negative light possible...
Plays well in the news media and most folks just believe what the U.S. govt says when it comes to drugs despite the U.S. govt's poor track record of honesty; ironically, the same U.S. govt that says cannabis is so dangerous and has no legitimate medical use has commissioned the University of Mississippi to grow and supply several people with cannabis joints for over 20 years for medical use - go figure!
