    Should I KILL My Dad or Break Up With My BLACK GF?

    I've been dating this Haitian (Black) girl for 5 months today and everything is going well. Except the fact that my dad doesn't like her because "she's nothing close to our culture" and "I have no future with her". He gave me a huge speech yesterday night, about keeping the Armenian race alive and all, and that dating a stanger/black would do nothing more then "Upset" our culture/community and family and they would end up "Denying my existance".

    I love her very much, but it's a delicate situation where you have to choose between you dad or your girlfriend.

    What should I do?
    I need help from wise/experienced GFYers or perhaps some of the Armenians on the board.

                                          Spunky is right. I've had several black girlfriends and my stepfather was kind of a racist as well. Fuck 'm, it's your life and there really is no difference in the white or non-white people. If it would be a religious difference, I could see problems. I've had friends who are moslims dating jews and at one time or another, that is gonna cause problems, especially when they start about the upbringing of kids and such.

                                                                                                              I asked a couple people, but can you really ask relationship tips to a 20 year old? If your dad pays for your life and your ability to go to school, I say stick with what he wants for the time being. You're only 20 and who knows what you think is 'love' actually is love. And who knows if she feels the same way you do. Like Veteran's Day said, how stupid would you feel if you move out and she dumps you.

                                                                                                                                                                              Save yourself the grief. In a few years if you're prepared to live on your own (mentally and financially let's hope) you can tell your dad what a prick you think he was about this. If your love is true and so is hers you can get back together at that time.

                                                                                                                                                                              Life is more complicated than 'do what you feel'. Think hard about it.

If not, then leaving her will not do you any good. If you were planning to marry, you'd really have to think whether they respect your decisions or not - and whether you are ready to drop them for the woman you love. Leaving her now will just give them the 'right' to judge any woman you date/love/plan to marry.
