        no it doesnt.

this is like saying christ walked on water.

        only christians believe it.

karma and its buddhist beginnings are man made. only buddhists should believe in karma, i know i dont.

        http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=karma

to acknowledge karma is to achknowledge "destiny" or "fate" - there is not one of you who can convince me fate and destiny exist.

its all a crock of lame bullshit by people with no power to stand without either reward or punishment for their action.

        do as thou wilt.

Well, unfortunately there is no way to prove Karma exists. It is not a science. Like philosophy, there is no right and wrong, only opinions and logic. Although, you may brush the following off as coincidence, surely you have noticed that when you do something you know is wrong, later on down the line, something bad happens to you. Ever notice that when you do what you know is right and treat people how you would want to be treated, things seem to go okay? Would you call this coincidence your entire life?

              only the naive... god...

of COURSE something BAD is going to happen to you.

something good and something bad happens to you EVERYDAY. bad and good opposites exist, everywhere... has NOTHING to do with what you did yesterday.

please dont consider philosophy anything more than religioun for the intellectual.

so you are saying good people never have bad things happen to them?

              this is childs talk.

karma in my opinion is simple: it's your conscience.

For example: you slash a retarded guy's adult-tricycle wheels. at the time it's funny to you because he retarded guy starts spazzing out and such, but then you realize what you did is wrong. Then it stays in your mind and hinders your perception keeping you somewhat preoccupied, and causing you to make mistakes and then endure the consequences of thos mistakes....

Nope. Karma is not a science. There is not a set of rules that dictate the same outcome everytime.

So say something bad happens to a "good person"... Well, just because you or someone else might have thought they were "good" does not make them good.

Yes, good and bad things happen to everyone, but are you saying you have not noticed any kind of correlation between doing something you know is wrong, and something "bad" happening to you, and doing something you believe or know is right, and something "good" happening to you?

Buddhists may believe in Karma. They may even worship a god and religion based on Karma. I do not believe in their god, nor their religion.

Just because a person believes they should do the right thing and treat people how they would want to be treated, does not make that person christian or buddhist. Also, if one notices a consistent correlation between doing something "right", having something right happen, doing something "wrong", having something wrong happen, does not make that person religious either. Karma just is what it is and a lot of people never realize it, or brush it off as coincidence.

                                            only christians believe it.

karma and its buddhist beginnings are man made. only buddhists should believe in karma, i know i dont.

to acknowledge karma is to achknowledge "destiny" or "fate" - there is not one of you who can convince me fate and destiny exist.

its all a crock of lame bullshit by people with no power to stand without either reward or punishment for their action.

                                            do as thou wilt.

                                            exactly!
Karma, faith, and all that jazz is mans way of coping with the total randomization of the world. People need to find answers to things and the only way for that is for things to be static and/or cyclical and/or non random. As soon as events become randomless and a pattern of behavior cannot be deduced to explain it, the human brain turns to faith and karma to explain the utter randomness to ones self.

I'd say karma is more superstition than religion. Of course most religions have their own "divine interventions", but in the end they're only superstitions. Religions just took those superstitions and gave them a name.

Good point, and that is only the beginning. Repercussions are widespread and branch out in ways people never even realize.

Not a religious person but i believe in karma some.If anything it is a personal religion not revolving around all the dumb ass brainwashing crap the churches are filled with.
Maybe if more people believed in Karma instead of religion there would be alot less molested little boys and car bombings. You know what half the holy rollers do these days in the name of god!

Even if you believe in Karma, you will never experience it in your lifetime. Karma in the Buddhist and Hindu traditions is the direction of your rebirth, reincarnation. It's a common misconception that it's an immediate cause and effect relationship.

Hinduism = Karma, everyone else followed. Karma happens in this life, from past life and current life events.

Karma is religion when it's based around following a god(s).

Eckankar for example, uses Karma in its teachings of life, but not pushed around a god to follow. While "god" does exist in Eck, god isn?t' given a persona, more the spirit of life/love which helps guide you through this life and onto the next.

Looking at Karma as ?if I do something good, something good will happen to me?. Doesn?t work. Karma is about pure love from within the soul.

You don?t have to believe in Karma, it doesn?t mater if you do or don?t. Good people seem to have good things happen to them and negative people don?t seem to move on in life. Good things in life isn?t getting a nice big house, or a new car, or a million dollar idea, it?s about you and your life your love and your love for others. True happiness.

Karma is not as trivial as "do bad shit" and it will come and bite you on the ass.

It's a much more sophisticated principle of cause and effect.

This is a decent explanation of it:

                                                                                                http://www.lifepositive.com/Spirit/w...uism/karma.asp

Bottom line is that like anything important, it requires a little bit more than reading a couple of lines of text on a computer screen.

For $6.33 you can go to Amazon.com and buy an amazing book called "Buddhism Plain and Simple", and it's some serious non-Tony Robbins shit that makes you see how your actions work, good and bad.

Trust me: I think religion is a crock. And lots of "religious" people abuse the concept of karma. That doesn't change the wisdom of its ideas, tried and tested by people for generations, independent of churches, monasteries or other stuff.

Acutally, here's an example of karma that many of you will relate to:

When I was younger, I did some work for a guy who drove me crazy with demands: Change this, change that, endless bullshit in Photoshop that went on for weeks.

Fine, I thought, I'm getting paid.

Then the guy didn't pay me. Told me he couldn't pay me, that my fees were too high, blah blah blah, after the fact bullshit.

I threatened to sue him. Wrote letters. Showed up at his house.

Contacted his regular suppliers and guess what? They too go screwed.

Fast forward to a few years later.

The cocksucker is sitting on an outdoor patio with all kinds of friends enjoying his life, nice summer night. I see him and decide I'm going to embarass him so severly, this is my chance to "get my money's worth".

Instead, I walk up to the table, maybe 15 people, people stop talking, I simply look right at him, smile and walk away. Dead silence.

I can see how terrified he is that I will "out him".

I decide to give him another chance to pay me, short of desparate humiliation.

I never get a cheque. It's not a happy ending.

Another few years go by, I see him in a Starbuck's, look right the fuck at him, don't move my eyes from his face for one minute. He doesn't flinch, even with my eyes burning his ass open.

He walks away and I think "damn, that motherfucker must be so haunted with runnin that he's built up TOTAL DEFENSES".

I'm short $2k, but instead of literally choking the guy, I walked away, and I can honestly tell you that I needed that $2k LIKE CRAZY at the time, but I needed my peace of mind more, and now, years later, I see that as an "inadvertent" test of my peace.

                                                                                                    That, friends, is karma.

Now, instead of seeing that guy as some devilish cocksucker, I see him as a guy runnin' from his shit.

BUT, he still owes me that money, yessiree. Difference is, I ain't wasting my life energy trying to make him into something he's not.

                                                                                                    It's his karma, after all.

                                                                                                    Comment
