    Have you stolen software from Micro$oft? You are going to jail!

    Ok, maybe not jail but Bill & Ballmer just released a patch that scans your computer for bootleg M$ products.

    If you have some on your computer, and I know a few of you aren't running licensed copies of Office, don't update your computer.

    How many people do you think this will affect?
    I've trusted my sites to them for over a decade...

                      Fair enough too! I've fucking PAID for my copies of Windows (two boxed pro XP's) and my copy of Office Professional 2003 (tho I actually run OpenOffice 2 as it's faster )... so if people aren't running licenced copies of Windows and other MS products, tuff on them. Why should they not pay if I did?

                      That's how I look at it ...

                      You wouldn't use stolen content for your paysite so you shouldn't use stolen software... just my view... but a pretty moral one I reckon. Just because you don't like what MS do, or how the price their products, doesn't give someone the right to take it free...

                      I don't like the fact that the Aston Martin Volante DB9 is hahaha163;115,850, but I sure as hell don't believe in stealing it instead!

There are millions of computers running illegal copies of Microsoft Windows (an OS with tons of vulnerabilities). By discouraging (or preventing) users of illegal copies of Microsoft Windows to update their system with the latest security updates, Microsoft guarantees that those systems will be compromised in the near future (new worms exploiting new and old vulnerabilites are released every day). Microsoft effectively (and knowingly) increases the number of compromised computers on the internet.

                                                                      More infected hosts -> more worms scanning -> more bandwith wasted, more legally owned sytem that are compromised (since worms can spread faster),...
                                                                      More infected hosts -> more worms scanning -> more noise triggering your IDS
                                                                      more infected hosts on the internet -> more costs for everyone who uses the internet.

                                                                      If Microsoft wants to stop piracy the should go after the people selling illegal copies, they should go after warez sites,...
                                                                      Going after the users is also an option, but the should do it the right way, instead of preventing users from updating their system (that doesn't stop piracy, it only adds to the problems we are already facing on the interweb...)

                                                                                                                                  yeah...i had to install it twice because it crashed and their help desk in the UK really didn't want to help at all. We ended up calling the US help desk that were a lot better.

I immediately removed XP and installed BSD. Recently I went to install XP on one of my systems (not the laptop) because I needed windows for something. It failed to install, so I called up MS and said the XP Home was for my laptop only. "What The Fuck" -- If I paid for a full installation of windows, I wanna run it on whichever fucking system I want. Fuck you MS.
