How much for 10 Mbit managed?

What are the monthly cost nowadays for 10mbit managed servers with cpanel, 120 GB disc space, and daily backups?

on box or off-box nightly backups?

        P4 2.8ghz w/HT
        =-----------------=
        1024 ram
        2 x 120gig s-ata
        CentOS w/Cpanel
10mbps unmetered (level3 / global crossing... no crappy cogent)
        nightly backups to secondary drive.
        $399/mo

        add $45/mo for 50GB of off-server storage

        see sig for icq

-400 would be nice. but that doesnt mean its practical or reliable. if that doesnt bother you i would get a cogent server. i'm sure you can get one for $250.

yeah you can get some nasty oversold cogent for $200 -> $250/mo but don't expect to really get 10mbps out of it.

I don't know. How much are cars going for these days?

Honestly you can get 10mbps ranging from $200 to $1,000. That should tell you something. The price depends on both the quality of bandwidth you're buying and the quality of service you'll receive.

Capped, I can have you running for $350. Burstable, $600. All premium quality bandwidth with fantastic customer support. Run a search here on GFY for "Phat Servers" and you'll see what I mean.

Feel free to email me at [email protected] or on ICQ at 147479144 and I'll be happy to tell you more about our network and service.

There's quite a bit of difference between the two. One places a limit on the bandwidth you receive, meaning at your peak traffic times you could see quite a slow down on your site. The other doesn't have limits, meaning you could get hit pretty hard with traffic and your sites don't run the risk of slowing down.

From what I've seen, my prices are pretty competitive. When you see a banner or ad saying "10mbps just $400 a month!", 9 times out of 10 that's for an unmetered connection, meaning capped. Ask how much they want for a burstable connection and it will probably be up around $600-800.

If you would like to know more about the differences between capped and burstable, feel free to grab me on ICQ at 147479144 and I'll be happy to tell you more.

exactly like sly said, I was quoting a 10mbps capped unmentered connection... if you wanted that 10mbps (~3300gig usage) on a 100mbps burstable connection that would run you $550/mo...

Ummm no...It doesn't work like that...

I'm not sure how Phatservers bills...But most is 95 percentile

Which means...The 95th percentile is the highest value left when the top 5% of a numerically sorted set of collected data is discarded. It is used as a measure of the peak value used when one discounts a fair amount for transitory spikes. This makes it markedly different from the average.

So in fact you could be billed for more then 10mbit or for less then 10mbit...

Unless Sly ya'll are billing some other way?

                                              You are the weakest link....

That would be the case if they were paying per gbyte...but if they are paying per mbit it does not work like that...

and how else do you track that? If I would pay per 20Mbit (on 100Mbit) and would use 15Mbit on most of the days and 21Mbit on one day. Will you charge me per overusage? Will it be that 1Mbit?
