I'm usually honest about it. I won't get into details, I'll only say things like online marketing or development.

If it's a female that I'm attracted to, I'm more likely to say exactly what it is that I do upfront (adult oriented websites). Most seem to be ok with it, and even seem to like the idea. Go figure.

For the casual asker I just say I do websites and they'll say "cool" or "interesting". For someone digging a little harder as to how money is made I say by matching up advertisers to the target audience of the page. I head off people wanting me to "get them in to it" by telling them they'll have to learn HTML first and build some pages then I'll steer them along or they can come up with their ideas and copy ready text and hire me to do it

. If anyone in "general company" wants to know my website address I just send them to one of my mainstream sites
