Hey Persian, hot girls. I'm Persian, and here's my Persian ex-girlfriend:
Persian women are beautiful and extremely exotic!

Yes... its downright insulting when the Iranians are called arabs...but commonplace .
Cultural generalizations are common (Ukrainians being called russians), and most of the time it is due to (anthropological) ignorance on the part of the comment maker.
I do find it amusing when countries/cultures less than a few hundred years old (usa) try to impart moral and social authority on countries/cultures which have thousands of years of history (Persia, Iran, Europe) - this is the ultimate in audacity.

And those same cultures did the same when they had relatively more power. Just for starters the Persians invaded the Greeks a few times and European nations colonialized all of the Americas, Africa, Australia and parts of Asia.
Ok, so the girls are hot. Do those women actually live in Iran? or are they just Persian?
The problem with nukes in unstable countries is they get overthrown, or sell them to *other* unstable countries, and then we have actual terrorists with them. (notice that I'm not calling Iran terrorists)

Good point. I accept that. They were 'wrong' too.
I'm suggesting that trying to 'organize' a culture with limited understanding of that culture (and it thousands of years of history) is futile.
In fact, it tends to propagate the kind of reactions which seemed to justify the need to do something about it in the first place.
Persian, you're making me really jealous! Those girls are superhottie my-types. My www.alexamodel.com girl is the only thing that comes close.
gaagggh I must go to LA more often where those girls hang out.
The US occupied Iraq's capital city in 21 days and has occupied the entire country for nearly two years with less than 2000 casualties. That's pretty historic. Iraq fought Iran to a standoff for ten whole years. Some of you think Iran/US would be a fight?
I remember I said the same exact thing on www.guitarworld.com last year. Iran is a country that doesn't have a mature government. Leave the nukes to the big boys.
I myself wouldn't place value judgements of "good" or "bad" on such things. It's a dog eat world.
Not sure what you meant about "organizing a culture".
That's precisely why I put the word 'wrong' in quotes - to assert the subjective nature of the expression.
Questioning the rationality of actions (such as trying to 'americanize' a different culture/peoples) is reasonable and not necessarily imparting judgement on either culture. To say that something is a bad idea on face value is a fair comment.
By 'organizing' I'm (again, with attention to the interpretive/satiric nature of the chosen word) referring to the 'democratizing' and 'civilizing' and 'americanizing' and 'westernizing' and 'ethnically cleansing' (facilitated through either through direct actions or deliberate inactions) that is going on (with the majority support of the american people).
I'm sure if a bunch of liberal west coasters moved into 'mainstreet usa' and started pushing their double low fat espressos, and homo/metrosexual idealogies on the locals, there would be measurable reaction from the good 'god fearing' folks. Why those decent people can't understand that other people would react the same way when their homes and values are assaulted, is hard to imagine.
But they did give baby g 4 more years to do so - I guess anything is possible.

I don't think it's futile at all. In fact, it HAS happened before.
exactly.
As far as i know the US is the only country that ever used an atomic bomb. And they have the nerve to say other countries cant have them....
Let's get to the heart of it. Nations with power - political, economic and military tend to enter into alliances and agreements in order to preserve that power. Nations without power tend to enter into alliances and agreements in order to gain power and mitigate the actions of the more powerful. It has always been that way - from Sparta and Athens allying against Persia or the formation of the Delian and Peloponnesian Leagues to the Cold War's Warsaw Pact and NATO to the modern Arab League and EU.
The nuclear powers have attempted to keep nuclear power in their control and their allies' control while restricting its potential enemies from acquiring them. It's the way it is. It has never had anything to do with fairness and equality for all nations and still doesn't.
Powerful nations like the United States and UK will act outside of organizations like the UN because they can. The USSR did this a number of times during the Cold War. France and Britain did it in the 50's. Less powerful nations will band together with their political power and argue that all actions must happen within a framework of international law and agreement - without THEIR consent such actions are "illegal".
Building nuclear weapons historically leads to escalation. Building even more nuclear weapons or leading to pressure for another government to build nuclear weapons.
To understand why thats so undesirable would require you to understand how powerfull todays nuclear bombs are.
The terms are thrown around so loosely.
When they dropped those bombs of Japan. There was nothing left of some people but their shadows edged into concrete from massive x-ray emissions..
The weapons these days are several hundred times as powerfull as those.

...so essentially... what you're saying is.... if we were to put a nuke today in a kinder suprise egg.. it would possibly BREAK the egg?
The main "anti" reasons are valid - ie of nukes ending up in the hands of idiots etc. But any country is fully entitled to do as it sees fit to protect it's people - especially if threatened or has neighbors with nuclear capability.
Ironic that the holder of the largest load of nuclear and bio weapons on the planet is the most vocal on why others should not have them.

I think this answer is the best yet. If it was someone in office whom people trusted, this answer would be enough. But with all the inuendo and alterior motives, thats a tough sell.
