I had a horrible experience with Gateway many years ago. I've bought 3 Dell desktops and 2 laptops since then and have been quite happy. My son's getting ready to buy another Dell desktop

My mom bought a laptop from gateway and it broke like 2 months after she got it.

I got my dell in march and ive been happy with no problems since.

Yeah everyone I talk to leans towards dell it seems, I hear nothing but good things.

My only problem with them is whenever I call them, I get some outsourced lady who has no clue as to what shes talking about.

My Gateway power supply fried and it fried my motherboard, althought it took Gateway abot a month to figure it out and find replacement parts WITH warranty. This cost me a $10k contract I was working on
Bought a Dell next with just about no problem although one of the Maxtor drives I bought from them fried and I lost a bunch of data. Just bought another Dell last week as a backup since my last one is going on 3 years, I don't want any surprises, but the old one still works well, so go with DELL.
