It's an indication of the world we live in, if you ask me... in 2 aspects.
One, you truly can be sued for anything.
Two, it's sad when a woman is so frightened by a knock at her door that she is hospitalized. In a perfect world, you'd be able to leave your doors unlocked... in a just world, you should be able to answer it without worry.... in today's world, you have panic attacks.Comment

Theres a few things that stand out in this story.
First off i think 10:30 is a bit late for cookie drops..
The old lady had disputes with some of her neighbours , so its not impossible that she did freak out and have a panic attack, but she also had her own 18 year old granddaughter in her house with her, so im not sure why they didnt calm her down..
I agree with whomever mentioned above that the lady might have thought it was some strange serial killer. Old people watch the news all the time and there are scary stories on all the time.
The thing that stands out is the JUDGEMENT , the old lady would have freaked out if it were a chipmunk on her doorstep , so i dont think they should be liabe for the costs of her medical bills.
