You don't hear this talked about since it's so taboo to say anything good about Hitler, but under different circumstances (Jews not dying on his clock, and not knowing when to stop invading) he could have gone down as the greatest leader of all time.

I don't think you can consider the last polls a good measures when you consider what Matt is talking about (i.e. before he invaded Russia, etc). At the point in time when he secured the Sudetenland after unifying with Austria his popularity in Germany was indeed far beyond any other political leader in the West and the world really. But towards the end of the war of course you are right his popularity had fallen, but regardless he still enjoyed huge support, as is evidence by the feirce fight put up by the Germans until the very end of the war.Originally posted by Trax
