if you know what is your IP and compare what you get here, you should see different results

Ok that sites server is slow. But if you already use firefox there is an option built-in. Go to :

Tools >> Connection Settings >> Manual Proxy configuration

If you want to be on proxies 24/7 like me, use Automatic proxy configuration url and then rotate proxies for every connection.

I went throught that site and applied for a username on a website having it sent to a web based email address. The confirmation email said "a request for an id has been made by (my IP addy)" so it's picking it up somehow

Testing it the way you're saying shows a different IP, it just didn't work in practice.

Oh well, like I said, I haven't been banned - just wanted a back up
