Burning Bridges

The one thing i have learned in this Industry or any other is you never burn your Bridges because you never know when you will need to cross them again.

Most of the bashing going on about sponsors is uncalled-for.

If you can't get a hold of a sponsor by email,ICQ or phone the boards should be the last place to bitch and cry.

I look at the threads and I don't understand why people bitch all the time. If I'm pushing other sponsors on my exits and they stop converting then just move on to the next. Programs get hot and cold maybe your traffic is burnt out on what your promoting.

Its a never ending battle.

I'm all about building relationships on the boards so if you have traffic I will make you Bank!
you want to trade traffic hit me up.
You have any good ideas I'm all ears.
You want content I have a full free members section strokemag.

we are all trying to make a buck and it takes all of us to keep this beast going.

OK makes sense but when people start ignoring me I get mad. Especially when they owe me money.

Do you know the reason why or are they just straight out dodging you.

There must be a reason if they don't pay the first time out turn them off.
Or just promote sposors you talk to and build a relationship with.

I just think some people get so frustrated with their inability to communicate with others that they use the board to say the things they wish they could in person.

its more like a heads up to other webmasters to be cautious with that specific sponsor. that's all.

There are sometimes good reasons to 'out' people or sponsors on the boards.

Otherwise, Roger, you're absolutely right on. I see alot of bitching here on the boards that makes me question if a reasonable effort was ever made to resolve the issues beforehand. Sometimes it almost seems that people go right to the board and don't even think about picking up the phone. Sometimes people defy logic. I think I once saw a post on here where someone was looking for the number to CCBill. Fuck, all they had to do was go to their website.

because alot of sponsors think this is a game..

i have to chase fuckheads down for my cash..
if they say they pay on the 12th .. then fucking pay on the 12th

i wait 7 days for a check then i ask where it is..
i can send a letter to east bumfuck within 7 days..

and then i get..
oh we had a delay on the checks..
they were mailed out yesterday

I totally agree with all said but get to know your sposors before you promote them.

Don't just be a number that is why we have all these resources to get in touch with each other at shows and on boards etc.

I personal don't send anyone traffic unless they contact me or i contact them. have a beer at the show or meet everyone you do business with you will get alot further and you won't have to worry about not getting paid.

If you can't reach a sponsor by phone most of the time they are hiding for a reason and might not be in this for the long run.
So they shave and cash out early.

I'm just getting a few things off my shoulder

The other day I was sitting here thinking,"I don't remember seeing a check from XXXcompany. let me give them an icq"

I asked. they said,"sorry, there was a problem. I'll get it right out"
I said, "ok, thanks"
It arrived a couple days later.
No fucking problem. you know why? because I'm not some little putz thinking I'm being beaten out of 50.00 bucks by a million dollar company.

Not using a million dollar company? then you get what you deserve. (can they REALLY be called sponsors just because they have a paysite and pay you for traffic)

I'm not a dinosaur, I'm a crocodile. I've seen dinosaurs come and go and I'm left unimpressed.

Good Post Roger... I think alot of people aren't thinking with a clear head... just like vegas, the money you see here, ISNT your $$$ until the check is cashed.

So people keep thinking, I'll keep sending them traffic... maybe it'll get better or... I'd rather not have to switch my links or... they check will be there soon...

Meanwhile, they're spending their own $$$ out of pocket on content and hosting, in the hopes that the sponsor will shape up.

People need to learn how to 1) use SSI to change all their links if they need to, and 2) Put just enough faith into a company that it will neither break your bank or make your bank.

Using 1 sponsor solely is grounds for alot of heartache... Use 2-3 main ones, and don't be afraid to play around with other sponsors... to test the water. Use what works for ya, if it makes you $$$ then use it... if it doesn't then you don't owe them anything, move on, and come back later if you feel like it.

That being said, try out Roger's new proggies. Good stuff.

but you start to see a pattern of this shit...
then you know they are fuckheads..
if its 50 bucks from 1 sponsor its no sweat.
but multiply that by 100.. and you'll see why that $50 is important.
