The Detroit airport is AWESOME!!! If I have to get stopped at an airport I certainly don't mind it there. They have free highspeed wireless internet, a massage place and tons of things to do.
The suburbs of Detroit are very nice and the downtown core (right near the bridge to windsor) isn't actually all that bad.
