    September sales?

    Fantastic up until around the 20th then total tankage.

    Maybe I am just experiencing a stubborn eb for the great flow I had up until the 20th.

    All in all good month tho but how do you do great sales for 3 weeks then only do 1/4 the sales this last week.

    Do we have a statistics major in the building. I went 3 whole weeks like gangbusters. Now I am sucking dick for last 6 days. WTF! Eh who the fuck knows.

    Hows it goin this month and lately?

          yes stats are getting better in the second part of september, but the beginning of the month was awful for me.

                  There is no why or wherefore I guess. I notice when you have a long term ratio say of 8 months or more.. if you suddenly bust out with more sales you will almost always get pulled back into that longterm ratio.

                  Amazing how accurate a longterm ratio can be. So I guess you cant get too confident just cause things are suddenly up cause they will almost always inversely crash proportionately. Or vice versa, dont sweat the slow periods.

                  Look at your long term ratios and then you can see they are just ebs and flows. But easier said than done. We all want to go go go with more sales all the time. But statistics and long term ratios have a hold of us.

                          Actually I am buying more traffic more carefully and choosing what sites to promote very carefully which is the only reason I am showing better profits but all in all things are still pretty damn tough promoting porn especially.

                              All in all I will take a month like this tho anytime. Should finish strong. You need a lull or eb and this lately is it.

                              Of course we all are diff and so it is apples to oranges but it is good to hear how others are doing.

                                      Similar here, September started out ok but the last week I might as well have just turned my servers off.

                                          Thing is you always get a lull it seems evey month but this one is particularly stubborn. Yesterday (Sat) sucked real bad.

                                          I always think someone turned off a switch (processor/not sponsor) but then someone else is flip flop what I'm doing and doing well. Plus you know there were tons of sups on Sat. So it is a personal thing with my traffic. Shit is statisticly ebbing and you cant fucken shake it. All broth. No noodles. It happens.

                                          So it is just a statistical average thing I feel. What goes up, must come down, to meet the norm. I did great in Early Sept so I must suck in late Sep. But why? Do statistical averages and longterm ratios really control us? I think they do to a great deal. It all averages out and comes right back to the longterm average.

                                          So enjoy the roller coaster ride and look at month to month and not day to day.

                                              Sales in Sept are actually doing very decent. We just launched a new site and the tour is doing very well since it is new and not oversaturated. I think you need to keep fresh sites and programs to send traffic to as once a site gets stale and oversaturated the conversions go to shit.

                                                      Great great great advice. It is kind of like if I went to the corner of Hennepin and Lake in Minneapolis and started peddling flyers to a new candy shop. At first I would do well but soon I wouild saturate.

                                                      I think our traffic does saturate fairly quickly. New sites always get better sales for a certain segment of traffic. I think we all have our own little segment and it saturates. The same people go through the channels and soon our adssaturate.

                                                      Changing sites is a pain but it does work to boost sales. Often I will get 2-3 quick sales then things will die off fast. So maybe I need to constantly be changing sponsors. Would work if this was 2000 but today there are not wnough good sponsors that sell. So you have to saturate a bit.

                                                          Which I'll tell you actually that does work. And I think that is how I will start choosing every site from now on. You cant think like a wm. You have to think like a surfer. What turns you/them on.

                                                          Its like these staged looking hd tours. They are in hd and technically good but not really that hot and they tend to convert poorly.

                                                          We must not forget. They are not joining because they are doing us a favor, or cause it's hd or whatever. they are buying because it turns them on. Only reason.

                                                                              But here's what's happening with me, which is a wee differant from what affiliates go through, but similar (Wee Differant was going to be my porn name...)

                                                                              Sales ROCKED for the first 3 weeks of September, record-breaking, but now this last week of September sales are so-so (at best). I have some theories as to why it feels like a cc processor has "flipped the switch". here's a hint: Anyone remember Enron and the energy scam that happened in California?

                                                                              So what I do now is add new sites to the network so that's why I'm saying it's a bit differant for me: add new sites, sales go up up up. BUT my "steady performers", proven winners already on the network, have indeed "returned to their statistical normalities". So what i do when i see these patterns is I add another site to the network. LOL I wonder sometimes how FLAT my sales actually would be if I wasn't constantly growing....

                                                                              Now for some "real world" possibilities (and not some industry-insider type of factors):

                                                                              Summer is now officially over so many people are back into "school and work mode".
                                                                              College students are just getting "settled in" to start their Fall semesters
                                                                              People are taking a breather before the next crazed 3 month shop-fest known as the 'Holiday Season'
                                                                              End of the month usually means more sales but sometimes I've noticed, depending on the time of year (spring, fall) end of the month can mean: tapped out.

                                                                              Anyway, there's some comforting "real world" possibilities for ya. But mostly I say it's the economy. "Recession over" my big fat right nut!

                                                                                                                              Good points. So you, Nicky, Fabian and a bunch of others all are seeing the same thing. We all seen the great 3 weeks and then big shut down.

                                                                                                                              This month did a flip flop.. for the last 3-4 months it has been slow the first period and better the second. All my rebills are in the second period so I know.

                                                                                                                              I tend to get the feeling people are maybe a bit more tapped out but who knows. Rebills been ok and a few sups just not nearly as good as it was.

                                                                                                                              As long as everyone else is the same then i dont feel bad as it is a larger swing due to some larger more general factor.

                                                                                                                              Sucks when things crash and you're buying traffic. double whammy Ya never know when to shut things down a bit.

                                                                                                                              Generally tho for most of us things keep going in the right direction month to month.
