My Girlfriend of 3 years dumped me... what to do?

Well after 3 years it is over. This happend about 10 days ago but im pretty depressed right now. We had been fighting somewhat but it wasnt too bad. Her bitch girlfriends from her sorority told her all these bogus rumors about me and she choses them over me. But it is ok, I am good looking.. but im going to be depressed for awile. It is kind of tuff when you have someone in your life for 3 years and some and then its like shes not there anymore. I really am broken. I find myself here drinking, and overall really sad. I don't know what to do. But hey shit happens. I try to be happy... but the thought of her is very consistant. I know time is the only cure to heartbreak, but I don't know how I will get her out of my mind? Should I start dating other girls? Take some time away for awile? Maybe you guys have some stories that will make me feel better who knows. Sorry I just had to vent.. sorry guys.

I dated a girl and broke up with her after 3 years. I fucked about 5 other girls and it didn't do anything for me. Just made me feel more lonely and distant from woman as a whole. I would recommend concentrate on things that make you happy. Have a few good friends go out with them and relax and try to remember you love yourself first.

thanks for all the replies, I am going to Mexico next weekend with some friends, but 2 out of the 3 days are going to be business. I guess I will have some fun in the clubs though... I just have to get the thought of her off my mind... like im pretty broke down right now. I can feel it physically. Like the first couple days it didnt really affect me. Yeah, we talked about it. I told her the truth and she said she just can't believe me. So we were talking, and then I was like don't come crawling back. You're going to be pretty upset for a while because you're life is going to change. Just one thing to think about is if it's worth fixing. I feel like if you really love someone you'll fight for them. Even though people have made up rumors about you, you should go the distance to try to win her back if she means that much to you. If on the other hand, you think the break up is for the best, then start doing things to take your mind off of her. Going out with friends is a good idea. I would even go out on a date or two. Just don't try to compare the person that you're on the date with to her for better or worse. You spent a long time with her so it'll take a while but you'll get over it.

I know exactly what your are going through. I've been there 4 months ago when my gf from 2 years broke with me... i tried everything since then, from meeting new girls (a lot), concentrate on business and hang on with friends. Let me tell you, unless you find your NEW girlfriend, meaning a girl who you feel really attracted to, don't go to the 'new girls' way since those temporary relations will end quickly and you will feel even worst... thinking that you will never find what you had with your gf again.

To be honest, hanging on with friends and working more was the best solution so far, although i think of her EVERY day. And i know the definitive solution will come when i fall in love again, thats the only truth... but you never know when that may happen.

First thing you need to do is stop drinking. That's not going to make anything better at all.

I'd suggest you bury yourself in work. And you might find that you truly excel at it.

In a couple of months, maybe you guys will get back together. But if you are fighting and acting stupid as of late, then you don't want to continue that crap, it's just not healthy.

Don't let this become a situation where you are on the downslide. Take the energy it creates and move forward with it. That's your best chance to get over it or get it back together no matter how you look at it.

After serious analyses i discovered the heartbreak feeling actually is FEAR (that you wont be able to find something similar and the lack of control because you cant decide for her to take you back). If you can do it fuck some other bitches.. although it will make you feel a bit empty and dissapointed it helps you get back on track.

Time does heal shit but it will take 6-12 months before youll be able
to date girls for more then just entertainment and sex.. the feeling will come back and time DOES heal everything.. although im quite sure you cant imagine that because simply getting her out of your head seems mission impossible.
