if you have dated a guy younger than you, how big was the age differnce? and did it work it?

i have girlfriend (thats 24) and shes dating a 21 yr old and shes having alot of problems with him. she feels like shes "schooling" him.

any advice you would give to someone dating a younger guy?

haha, i did once. only 1 year difference and he was mature so it worked nicely. typicallly i like them a little older as guys mature at a much differrent rate then woman do.

i think between 21 and 24 is a bigger difference in maturity levels, goals, etc. than say between 31 and 34. the only time i ever dated a younger boy he was 16 and i was um 21..SHHH! needless to say it was entirely for a good romp and not at all for a serious relationship, didn't last too long!

I was involved with someone younger last year when I was 24... I was 4 years older. It didn't work out but not because of the age difference. People are mature and immature at all different ages... so you really can't force anyone to be what you want them to be. If she's hoping he will be "more like her" or something like that, it's a waste of time. It's best that people mature/evolve/change on their own, because if you try to force someone to do something, they will grow to resent you. And if she's trying to get a serious relationship out of someone who isn't ready for one, she's wasting her time on that as well. It sounds like they just aren't compatible if she feels the need to "correct" the way he is. I don't know enough about them or their relationship, but she can't act like his 'mommy' all the time by 'schooling him'... she has to be his peer or it's a disaster waiting to happen.

He might feel like I'm his mom because we are similiar in certain ways, but I don't think I'm motherly. He's been very mature and has had a good head on his shoulders his whole life. Don't think he knew what he was getting into when he married me but after 5 years of marriage it's just become somewhat normal. i think thats one of the problems her man is having. hes starting to disappear more lately, no answering his cell phone....i told her it sounds like hes cheating on her. and for him to just have turned 21, and her already knowing what 21 felt like, she should know what he is/wants to be doing. however, theres always guys that are an exception...the guys that are truly faithful and truly dont wanna go out and party all the time. (although, in her case, thats not what her boyfriend is)

I have ONLY dated younger men. I've tried to date older men, but I felt this need to be 'mature' or to try to act my age, whatever that means. I'm 28 and the last guy that I dated (lived with) was 21. When I was 27 I dated a guy over a year who was 22, and when I was 25 my bf was 19. I'm slowly dating men closer to my age. I find that the younger men offer me what I need. I like sex, I like adventure, I like to go out, have fun, don't want a lot of responsibility at this point, so men closer to my age or older tend to make me feel smothered, pushed in the mom/wife direction. I just dated a guy who was 27 and it was aweful, he wanted like the bestfriend, bf-gf relationship, but was completely content to not have sex. VERY frustrating, the young ones are always ready, willing, and able... I've yet to meet a guy 21 who will turn down a romp in the park. However, if he's older, mature, and established, its to be expected he doesn't want to do things that could reflect poorly on his career, etc.

Advice, boys are boys, they want fun, adventure, sex, and nothing that resembles a future longer than next weekend. When you date a guy who's younger, don't bring up a concert at the end of summer you'd like to go to with him, focus on what you're doing this week and this coming weekend, because most of them will run as soon as they see themselves in a situation that resembles committment and exclusiveness ;) The art of dating younger men, is making them think that you're doing THEM a favor, they should be lucky to attain your time, cause after all, your an older, educated, & more experienced woman! This usually works a few months, then they have to go show the girls their own age all the cool sexual techniques they learned. So don't let yourself fall in love with a guy more than 2-3 yrs younger, it will only end in heartbreak! Good luck!

I've never put up with that shit. If he doesn't return calls and plays those games then it's time to move on. I've never had a problem with being single or moving on to the next guy. I know there are millions of guys out there and that one wasn't for me. When I married my husband he was 22 and a senior in college, but the difference was he didn't smoke, drink, do drugs, nor did he ever want to. He didn't want to go to clubs either. I think people in general that like to go out partying and clubbing don't like to settle down, there is too much temptation out there.

Younger guys are good for fucking and having fun...but not much else (in my opinion). As far as a "meaningful" relationship with a mature, intelligent (and fun) guy...I'd stay closer to my own age. My boyfriend is just year younger than me...but I think is stuck at about 23 years old mentally...still wants to go clubbing, and to raves and all that junk, which I'm pretty much past.

why do I have an exact date?? because he "fibbed" to me for a year and I thought we origionaly had only a 3 month age difference.. He told me he never found the time to tell me the truth.

I found out the truth when his father blurted something out around his birthday this year. Now I have to wait even longer for him to be 21

hm, interesting, i would say if you are 24 and date a 18 or 19 year old, then you may be right, but when you are 24 and the girl is 21, then there's nothing wrong with it ...and as some ppl even suggested, a 24 year old guy may have the same maturity level as a 21 year old girl
