Well, they're saying there is no indication that bush/cheney told libbey to leak her name. They're saying he authorized leaks of classified information though, which any president is permitted to do legally.

But, they still have a load of gall to come out and decry leaking and vow to find the leakers and promise to fire anyone who leaks when they knew damn well they'd authorized it themselves.

Valerie Plame, someone working for the CIA sent her husband on a mission to discredit Bush on the Iraq/niger Uranium statement. When her husband was asked who sent him, he lied and said Cheney sent him. Bush said who is this guy, and who sent him on a mission he has no experience for? Cheney did not know, and found out it was his wife in the CIA, a Bush hater. Her husband had already outed her on his website, and introduced her at parties as his CIA wife, so she was not a covert agent. The administration decided to get the facts out about who sent him to Niger to discredit them.

If a law was broken, in the mentioning of Valerie Plame to the press, don't worry, impeachment will be coming. If it does not, then I guess we will have to wonder.

Yes, you can't "leak" information that has already been made public by other means either. So no leaking took place, that is why Libby was gotten for lying to them, intead of for leaking classified information. They got him, like they got Martha Stewart. Like I said, a dirty business.

1. You don't impeach a President because you don't like his policies. Impeachment is for "high crimes and misdemeanors," such as Clinton's lying to a grand jury, obstruction of justice, witness tampering, filing a false affidavit, etc..

2. Censure is ridiculous too. It says the backers are traitors who don't back a war time President who is doing what HE thinks is right to protect US.

I wouldn't characterize it that way. Obviously, there was some jockeying for position by all parties. Bush has the authority to declassify material, which pretty much ends the discussion.

I will confirm what he said. A president has the power to declassify any information he wishes whenever he wishes.
Though what Bush did was a very rarely ever done, it still was not "illegal".

Oddly enough though the White House has been very hard on anyone for leaking anything for any reason. So in effect he was going against his own policies in regards to leaks.

A goal or a declassification does not need to benefit the US citizens in any way shape or form. Though the leak did help justify and push his war agenda to the public and congress/senate.

Mind you I despise this man with a passion and would love to see him impeached or removed from office. Problem is his damn handlers know how to skirt the law just perfectly. So that leaves me with knowing there is nothing impeachable about it and if he was on these grounds it would leave the same taste in my mouth as the Clinton impeachment.

Its good to see people finally talking about "facism" - every little thing that the Bush administration has done has its roots in the 1930s Germany - might take a look at how Hitler actually rose to power - almost a mirror image of Bush's actions. Mein Kampf ought to be required reading for every schoolchild in the US as a way of teaching how to not repeat history.


Of course the Bush family tried to get into power a few years earlier (by about 8 years when Bush Sr was Vice Prez) when they tried to have Reagan assassinated by John W. Hinckley - who just happened to be a friend of Neil Bush's and was actually scheduled to have dinner at the Bush's house but he missed that dinner after he failed to kill Reagan and got arrested on the spot. Neil and Scott Himkley(Johns brother) were old friends from Denver in the energy biz from their companies Vanderbilt Energy and Standard Oil of Indiana(based in Denver)

As far as the current Bush member doing something illegal - I would think that the revelation that he was planning an assassination of Saddam should do the trick since Executive Order 11905 of 1976 made that action illegal - 5(g) Prohibition on Assassination. No employee of the United States Government shall engage in, or conspire to engage in, political assassination.
Should be fun as soon as someone realizes he's already admitted to a felony and crimes and misdemeanors.
