Apple releases software to let Macs run Windows

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Apple Computer Inc. on Wednesday rolled out a software patch that enables its Intel-based Macintosh computers to install and run Microsoft Corp.'s Windows XP operating system.
Apple said that the new software, called "Boot Camp" is available as a download beginning today.

Cupertino, California-based Apple said in June 2005 that it would shift to microprocessors made by Intel Corp., the world's biggest chipmaker, from those made by IBM. It plans to move its entire Mac line to Intel chips by the end of 2007.
